Welcome to the world of Internet Marketing!

Is this you?

  • You're a stay-at-home dad or mom with several hours a day when the kids are not too demanding and you'd like something challenging to keep you busy.

  • You've got a 9 to 5 job that's mostly routine and regularly boring. When you get home at night you've got nothing better to do than sit in front of the TV for 6 hours.

  • You're looking at retirement in 2 or 3 years and your work has been your life. You don't see how you're going to keep busy without a job to go to every day. You know that there's only so much golf you can play!

  • You're a twenty-something person and you hear of lots of guys, some still teenagers, making a killing on the Internet. You wonder how they do it and how you could get in on it.

Netpreneurship is for you!

An entrepreneur is typically defined as a person willing to take the risks involved in starting and managing a small business.

Wiki defines entrepreneurship as “… the qualities that are needed to function effectively in a business, profit-making context.”

Similarly, netpreneurship is the ability to start and manage a small business based exclusively on the Internet. The netpreneur, sometimes with intellectual capital as the only investment in the business, can grow a successful enterprise with very few resources.

I want to show you how to become a successful netpreneur!

About these lessons

I assume that you're a beginner at this game.

I'll cover all the steps that you need to get started and we'll do it together as painlessly as possible, meaning that you won't have to do tons of research and evaluations to get the tools you need.

Whenever there's a choice to be made, there's usually a long list of options that fit the bill. I'll pick the best one or two choices for you and we'll go with that. If you want to do additional research afterwards and look at other options, that's up to you.

I assume that you're familiar with the Internet and that you do a fair amount of surfing the Web.

You don't have to know how to program computers. People often assume that creating a website involves a programming language. It doesn't. Actually, HTML, the language we use to write Web pages, is a lot like text processing. If you can use Word or WordPerfect, you can learn how to create a Web page.

There are many ways to make money on the Internet. You may have sold stuff on eBay. That's one way of doing it.

You could start a business to sell just about anything on the Internet. But if you're selling a product there's usually a fairly complicated process that you have to go through to get the order from the customer, get the money, deliver the merchandise and then follow-up on returns and complaints and so on.

To keep things simple, we'll start our netpreneurship business with what we call an information product (Info-Product). An Info-Product is basically you selling your knowledge of something in a format that can be delivered directly on the Internet by the customer either browsing a website or downloading a .PDF document or an eBook.

And, to make it even simpler, we don't even sell the product. We give it away!

“How do you make money that way?” Simple: like TV, with commercials. You put ads in your Info-Product and you get paid for the ads instead of for the product.

Throughout the book I'll often refer to my own websites for examples - see 'Other Resources' below. I provide free tutorials on computer programming languages and database applications. I've been doing this for several years and the websites are becoming fairly successful. I suggest that you take a look at the main site and pay attention to the 'Ads by Google' on just about every page – that's what pays the bills. Every time a visitor to my website clicks on one of the ads I get a few cents. It may not look like much but if you have hundreds of those ads, it can add-up to some interesting dough.
